Continental is seeking a Quality Assurance and Safety Coordinator for our location in Calgary.
What you will be doing:
The Quality Assurance and Safety Coordinator is a dual role reporting to the GM, but with a dotted line reporting to the Director of Quality and Manager of Safety. They ensure that Continental’s Quality Management System is compliant as well as adhering to WorkSafe regulations. This role is the main point of contact and intermediary between the two departments and Continental, ensuring the successful implementation of initiatives, and compliance with Quality and Safety standards.
Quality Assurance
- Under the direction of the GM and Director of Quality, lead the implementation of Quality Management Systems within the Shop
- Document quality assurance activities and assist in the preparation and execution of audits.
- Assist the team in the design and implementation of quality processes and procedures.
- NCRs – Ensure all NCR events are identified, described and recorded, lead the investigation and root cause analysis of the event, coordinate containment activities, facilitate the development of corrective actions and audit for compliance
- Act as the Quality Ambassador, attend and direct meetings, assign responsibilities and assist with follow-up.
- Ensure compliance to QMS standards through audits – Document findings, coordinate corrective actions, and update SOPs and the QMS as required.
Health & Safety
- Responsible for planning, advising and assisting in implementing company Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies and procedures.
- Meeting with the management team to define EHS goals and objectives.
- Train employees on health and safety policies /best practices.
- Ensure proper employee training and competency is completed on time
- Guide the Joint Health and Safety Committee
- Support safety meetings and toolbox talks by providing relevant information for the meetings
- Conduct inspections to identify workplace hazards and EHS violations.
- Provide solutions and intervention strategies for occupational hygiene, health, and safety hazards.
- Implementing new health and safety protocols and measures to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Assist operations and the EHS Manager by identifying, tracking, documenting, reporting and recommending corrective actions for any unsafe condition within the facility
- Updating and maintaining Environmental, Health, and Safety manuals
- Preparing and submitting health and safety compliance documents and records to the relevant parties
- Act as the Safety Ambassador, attend and direct meetings, assign responsibilities and assist with follow-up.
- Follow up with the applicable party to ensure that required tasks are completed.
- Develop and foster a workplace culture of health and safety
- Assist the company in maintaining compliance with legislated OHS and environmental regulations
- Able to Carry out Internal Audits
- Monitoring operational EHS processes and employee activities
- Ensure readiness for customer site prequalification (ISNetworld, Avetta, etc.)
- Complete and submit contractor pre-qualification forms, including insurance and WCB clearances

What we need from you:
Continental Electric seeks an individual with quality program management and H&S experience. A successful candidate would have at least 2 years of experience in one of these fields and be open to learning and expanding their knowledge and experience in both fields. This role presents a growth opportunity to an individual seeking to expand their skill set.

- 2 Years experience in a Quality and/or Health & Safety
- Working Knowledge of ISO Quality systems or Quality assurance would be an asset
- Occupational Health and Safety certificate/ Diploma would be an asset
- NCSO Certificate (National Construction Safety Officer) would be an asset
